- Can light energy be transformed into heat energy?

-Can we increase the brightness of a lightbulb by using electromagnetic energy instead of just electric energy?
Hypothesis: (What did you think was going to happen?)

- We think the light will make the tin foil warm and make the thermometer go up.

- We think the brightness will increase with electromagnetic energy because adding a magnetic will increase the kinetic energy of the lightbulb.
Materials:

1. Aluminum Foil
2. Desk Lamp
3. Thermometer
4. Scissors

Materials:

  • Light bulb
  • four wires (1-1/2)
  • Batteries-1
  • medal nails or rods-5
  • rubber bands
  • a light bulb holder
Method: (How did you test your question?)

- We are going to cut a piece of the aluminum foil into the size of piece of paper. Another piece half the size of a sheet of paper and a third piece a quarter the size of a sheet of paper. We are going to put the thermometer under the tin foil to see if one gets hotter when the light is shined on it..

  1. Take the battery, two wires, light bulb holder and a light bulb
  2. Put the two wires and put it to the negative and positive side of the battery and put a rubber band over the two wires.
  3. Take the light bulb and the light bulb holder and put the light bulb into it.
  4. Take the other ends of the wires and attach it to the light bulb holder.
  5. Then you get another battery and another two wires and do the same thing as the second step.
  6. After coil the wires around a metal rod or nail and attach it to the other circuit. (Take out a wire and attach it to on end of the wire. Then put it on the light bulb holder.)

7. See the changes.
